Desmond Scott, Managing Partner of Woodvale, said:

“As a local business we were extremely proud to be awarded the contract to build the first school to be located on the Lisanelly Shared Education Campus.  As we begin to gather pace we are delighted to have the opportunity to engage with local suppliers and social enterprises to work alongside us as we deliver this unique project.

We are fully committed to the social clauses agreed in our contract and look forward to providing a range of work opportunities, open to the local community, dedicated to apprenticeships, student placements, youth unemployment and over 150 work weeks for the Long Term Unemployed.  Extending across various construction trades, these opportunities aim to assist those most in need and furthest from the employment sector.”

Lisanelly is fully committed to ‘Buy Social’ and that means social clauses will be built into every contract awarded.

Jennifer Morgan, part of the team behind the overall project explains:

“Buy Social is about delivering real benefits to communities.  This could mean anything from work experience for young people and the long term unemployed, to helping provide skills to the most disadvantaged.  The Northern Ireland Executive is extremely passionate about delivering the maximum possible benefit from all public investment, and Buy Social can help us achieve both value for money and social benefits by including effective social clauses in the contracts we award.”
